Crypto Millionaires Increase by 40 Percent, Market Cap $3.3 Trillion

Global Crypto Millionaires on the Rise

The number of global crypto millionaires has reached 241,700, a 40% increase over the past year, according to the 2025 Crypto Asset Report by Henley & Partners. This increase coincides with the market capitalization of Bitcoin as well as the total digital asset market capitalization reaching $3.3 trillion in June. This represents a 45% year-on-year increase.

Bitcoin continues to be the main driver of wealth creation in the sector. The number of accounts holding more than a million dollars in Bitcoin increased by 70% to 145,100. At the higher end, 450 people hold at least $100 million in crypto assets, while 36 are billionaires.

Shifting Use of Digital Assets

The report reveals a shift in how digital assets are being used. Bitcoin has moved from being a speculative tool for investment purposes to being used as collateral. Philipp A. Baumann, founder of Z22 Technologies, said in the report, "Bitcoin is becoming the primary currency used to accumulate wealth, not an investment vehicle."

Global Wealth Dynamics

The decentralized nature of cryptocurrency is also reshaping global wealth dynamics. Analysts note that investors are pursuing citizenship and residency programs to avoid regulatory uncertainty. Henley's annual Crypto Adoption Index ranks Singapore, Hong Kong, US, Switzerland and UAE as the five most favorable cities for digital asset investors.

The report states that over 14 trillion dollars of wealth crossed borders last year. Cryptocurrency's portability is ensured with just a seed phrase. This represents a radical departure from centuries of place-based financial systems. Dominic Volek, Group Private Client Manager at Henley & Partners, says: "Cryptocurrency today makes geography optional. With Bitcoin, you only need to remember 12 words to secure a billion dollars."
