November Inflation Report Announced

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the inflation data for November. According to the data, inflation showed a monthly increase of 0.87% in November, while annual inflation decreased to 31.07%. This result performed below the expectations in the markets.

Experts had anticipated a monthly inflation increase of 1.31% and a decline in annual inflation to 31.65% in November. However, the announced figures revealed a contrary development, showing a drop in inflation.

Changes in Expenditure Groups

According to TÜİK data, inflation reached 29.74% compared to the previous December and 35.91% according to twelve-month averages. When examining annual change rates, food and non-alcoholic beverages increased by 27.44%, transportation by 29.23%, and housing by 49.92%. The impacts of these three main expenditure groups on annual change were recorded as 6.83% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 4.55% for transportation, and 7.57% for housing.

Analysis of Monthly Changes

Looking at the monthly changes, food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a decrease of 0.69%, while transportation and housing recorded increases of 1.78% and 1.70%, respectively. The contributions of these main groups to monthly changes were -0.17% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 0.27% for transportation, and 0.29% for housing.
