Notable Drop in Hotel Occupancy Rates

In November 2025, hotel occupancy rates across Turkey fell below expectations, dropping to 33.07%. According to data from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the occupancy rate for the same period last year was 36%, showing a significant decrease this year.

November 2025: Visitor Statistics

Despite an increase in the number of hotel overnight stays, the decline in occupancy rates continues. In November 2025, the total number of overnight stays was recorded at 15 million 321 thousand. Out of these stays, 7 million 578 thousand were by foreign visitors, and 7 million 742 thousand were by domestic guests. Additionally, the total number of overnight stays for the January-November 2025 period was announced as 240 million.

Foreign Tourism and Domestic Visitor Rate

In November, foreign guests accounted for 16.36% of occupancy rates, while domestic visitors made up 16.71%. These figures indicate that interest from both domestic and foreign holidaymakers in Turkey's accommodation facilities is declining.

Post-Pandemic Period and Sector Trends

Data from 2025 reveals that the tourism sector is unable to reach the average occupancy rate of 32.1% recorded in 2018. Furthermore, November recorded the sharpest decline of the last nine years, which occurred during the pandemic in 2020 when occupancy rates fell to as low as 20%. After reaching a peak of 39.8% in 2022, the sector has been unable to sustain this increase over the past three years.

Comparison with 2019 Data

The data show that the occupancy rates for November, which were at 38.5% in 2019, have fallen behind the recovery process following the pandemic as of 2025.
