Coffee futures for Arabica coffee traded on the New York Exchange have reached record levels, drawing attention due to renewed concerns about supply resulting from U.S. tariffs. This situation brings with it a risk of rising coffee prices in supermarkets and cafes.
The prices of the Arabica variety, preferred by large companies like the well-known coffee chain Starbucks, have increased by 3.4%, reaching $4.35 per pound. This value surpasses the previous record recorded in the industry.
Particularly in February, adverse weather conditions in Brazil, the largest Arabica producer, raised production concerns and caused prices to rise to $4.30 per pound. This development is creating uncertainty in the markets.
American coffee companies have had to postpone new coffee deals from Brazil due to the heavy tariffs imposed by former President Trump. This situation further strengthens the likelihood that American consumers will face price increases.
