Japan plans to accept 1 million 231 thousand 900 qualified workers in order to close the labor gap. According to the state television NHK, the draft of this plan has been prepared by the government and is expected to be implemented by March 2029.
In the first phase, a total of 805 thousand 700 qualified workers are targeted to be accepted into Japan across 19 fields. These workers will primarily be employed in sectors such as food production, industrial manufacturing, and maintenance services.
In the second phase, 426 thousand 200 individuals will be offered the opportunity to become qualified personnel through three years of training in three fields: construction, industrial production, and the food sector. This will ensure the cultivation of individuals with sufficient expertise and experience.
The government aims to meet labor needs and increase productivity. This significant plan is expected to be submitted for Cabinet approval in January.
