Euromonitor International has published the Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025 report, which shows that two important cities in Turkey, Istanbul and Antalya, have managed to enter the top 10 cities attracting the most foreign tourists in the world.
Istanbul ranks 5th in the world with 19.7 million international visitors, while Antalya stands 8th with 18.6 million visitors. This situation not only increases Turkey's impact on the global tourism scene but also draws attention as a significant development on the international stage.
At the top of the list is Bangkok with 30.3 million visitors, while Hong Kong, London, and Macau share the first four spots. However, the highlights of the report reveal that Turkey is rapidly rising in terms of tourist numbers in Europe and the Mediterranean region.
The rich gastronomic culture of Istanbul, dynamic cultural and art events, and international organizations, along with Antalya's highly demanded holiday infrastructure and high-standard facilities, are among the factors supporting this success.
Having been a reference for over 50 years in the global tourism sector, Euromonitor International evaluates cities not only based on visitor numbers but also on various criteria such as sustainability, economic performance, and health safety.
For this reason, Euromonitor's report is considered one of the most valuable data sets providing a critical roadmap for stakeholders in the tourism sector.
In the same report, Euromonitor International also revealed the "Top 10 Most Attractive Cities in the World" list, ranked according to 56 criteria, including sustainability and cultural performance. Paris maintains its success thanks to the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral and PSG's Champions League victory. Other rankings include Madrid in second, Tokyo in third, and Rome in fourth.
Amsterdam and Barcelona, which have shown an upward trend, are noteworthy, while London has fallen to 18th place due to its poor sustainability performance.
