Turkey's Rise in Global Tourism

Euromonitor International has published the Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025 report, which shows that two important cities in Turkey, Istanbul and Antalya, have succeeded in entering the top 10 cities attracting the most foreign tourists in the world.

Istanbul ranks 5th in the world rankings with 19.7 million international visitors, while Antalya holds the 8th position with 18.6 million visitors. This situation increases Turkey's influence on the global tourism scene and highlights an important development on the international stage.

Bangkok at the Top, Turkey is Progressing

At the top of the list is Bangkok with 30.3 million visitors, followed by Hong Kong, London, and Macau sharing the top four spots. However, the standout aspect of the report is Turkey's rapid rise in tourist numbers in Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Istanbul's rich gastronomy culture, dynamic cultural and artistic events, and international organizations; Antalya's highly sought-after vacation infrastructure and high-standard facilities are among the factors supporting this success.

Euromonitor's Strong Analysis

For over 50 years, Euromonitor International has been considered a reference in the global tourism sector, evaluating cities not only by visitor numbers but also by many criteria such as sustainability, economic performance, and health safety.

Therefore, Euromonitor's report is regarded as one of the most valuable data sets providing a critical roadmap for stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Paris Leads the List of “World's Most Attractive Cities”

In the same report, Euromonitor International also announced the list of the “Top 10 Most Attractive Cities in the World,” ranked according to 56 criteria such as sustainability and cultural performance. Paris maintains its success thanks to the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral and PSG's Champions League victory. Other rankings include Madrid in second place, Tokyo in third, and Rome in fourth.

Amsterdam and Barcelona stand out as they show upward trends, while London has fallen to 18th place due to its weak sustainability performance.
