Turkey's Rise in Global Tourism

Euromonitor International published the Top 100 City Destinations Index 2025 report, which revealed that Turkey's two major cities, Istanbul and Antalya, have managed to enter the top 10 cities attracting the most foreign tourists in the world.

Istanbul ranked 5th in the global standings with 19.7 million international visitors, while Antalya secured the 8th spot with 18.6 million visitors. This development highlights Turkey's increasing impact on the global tourism stage and is an important advancement on the international front.

Bangkok at the Top, Turkey is Advancing

At the top of the list is Bangkok with 30.3 million visitors, while Hong Kong, London, and Macau share the top four spots. However, the standout aspect of the report is the fact that Turkey is rapidly rising in tourist numbers within Europe and the Mediterranean region.

The rich gastronomic culture of Istanbul, dynamic cultural-art events, and international organizations; along with Antalya's highly demanded holiday infrastructure and high-standard facilities are among the factors supporting this success.

Euromonitor's Strong Analysis

Having been a reference in the global tourism sector for over 50 years, Euromonitor International evaluates cities based not only on visitor numbers but also on various criteria such as sustainability, economic performance, and health safety.

Therefore, Euromonitor's report is considered one of the most valuable data sets providing a critical roadmap for stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Paris Leads the "World's Most Attractive Cities" List

In the same report, Euromonitor International also announced the "Top 10 Most Attractive Cities in the World" list, ranked according to 56 criteria such as sustainability and cultural performance. Paris retains its success due to the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral and PSG's Champions League victory. The other rankings are: Madrid in second place, Tokyo in third, and Rome in fourth.

Amsterdam and Barcelona show an upward trend, while London has reportedly fallen to 18th place due to its weak sustainability performance.
