Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM)-affiliated Metro Istanbul has introduced new regulations for passengers traveling with luggage to enhance their comfort. In this context, it has been announced that luggage weighing more than 30 kg and larger than 120x60x50 cm will not be permitted on stations and metro vehicles.
According to the new regulations, passengers may carry only 1 large suitcase along with 1 cabin suitcase or 1 small/medium-sized backpack. Additionally, camping-type large bags will also be considered as luggage. It is stated that passengers entering the metro with multiple suitcases will be charged an extra fare.
This new regulation aims to allow for more efficient use of metro vehicles during busy hours and to ensure passengers have a more comfortable journey. IMM will continue to update such measures to reduce disruptions in public transportation.
