Operation at Istanbul Gold Refinery: 21 Detained

Operation Against Istanbul Gold Refinery Inc.

As a result of the operation conducted against Istanbul Gold Refinery Inc. and its affiliated companies, 21 individuals were detained.

Details of the Operation

The operation, coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch, was conducted on October 6, 2025, at 24 separate addresses across İstanbul. The operation was carried out with search, arrest, and detention procedures against 23 suspects.

Allegations of Misuse and Support

This operation was conducted against the companies and employees found to have misused the 3% foreign exchange support received from the government under the “Communiqué on Supporting the Conversion of Firms' Foreign Currency Resources into Turkish Lira” published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey.
