The Israeli government has approved a ceasefire agreement in Gaza in line with a proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump. This important development raises hopes for peace in the region.
According to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's Office, the ceasefire agreement in Gaza was discussed during a cabinet meeting. The government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, approved this agreement, which aims at "ending the war in Gaza and bringing all Israeli hostages back," with widespread support.
The meeting included Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, as well as Trump's son-in-law and former advisor Jared Kushner. These participations contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries.
Reports in the Israeli press indicate that most of the ministers in the cabinet meeting supported the agreement; however, 5 ministers, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, voted against it. These reactions highlight the differences among the political parties.
