Export Expectations Decrease While Import Increases: Quarterly Report

BIST News
According to the data released by the Ministry of Commerce, while the export expectations for the fourth quarter of the year have decreased, the import expectation index has shown an increase.

Export Expectation Index Declines

The Ministry of Trade announced that the export expectation index for the fourth quarter has decreased to 105.3. This figure represents a 0.2 point decline compared to the 105.5 level in the previous quarter. However, compared to the same period last year, the index has increased by 6.4 points.

According to the conducted survey, export expectations for the next three months are in an upward direction, while the current level of registered export orders and the results of export orders in the last three months contributed to the decline in the index.

Import Expectation Index on the Rise

The fourth quarter import expectation index, on the other hand, increased by 0.3 points to reach 115.1. This figure shows a notable increase of 4.7 points compared to the same period last year.

Factors contributing to the rise in import expectations include expectations for imports in the next three months and expectations for import unit prices. Additionally, the decrease in the current level of registered import orders led to a positive assessment based on the orders placed in the last three months.
