U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that they do not foresee a recession in the country’s economy in 2026. In a statement during his appearance on the Meet the Press program, Bessent said, “No, I am very optimistic about 2026.”
Bessent emphasized that the tax cuts in the spending bill enacted by Republicans during the summer have not yet fully reflected in tax planning. He noted that this situation would provide significant tax refunds to American citizens in the spring and would lead to income increases when payroll adjustments are made.
Secretary Bessent stated, “We have laid the groundwork for a very strong growth economy that does not lead to inflation,” expressing that the foundations for future economic growth are solid.
