Entering Borsa İstanbul in 2025 Without a Hitch

In 2025, characterized by fluctuations in global markets and the decisive role of domestic dynamics, the financial leasing and factoring sector emerged as the favorite of domestic investors, while the BIST 100 index closed the year with a gain of 14.6%.

Unique Performance in the Financial Leasing Sector

The year 2025 was a turning point for the financial leasing and factoring index. This sector provided significant profits to its investors with a return of 376.6%. Thanks to the high performance in this sector, investors found an opportunity to significantly expand their investment portfolios.

Mining and Real Estate Rising Rapidly

One of the safe havens for investors last year was the mining sector. The mining index completed the year with a rise of 73.8%, becoming one of the leading sectors that offered real returns to its investors. This success was followed by the Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) with a rise of 60.6% and the construction index, which increased by 52.2%. The activity in these two sectors indicates that the general sectorial recovery is gaining momentum.

Holdings Outperforming Banking

In Borsa İstanbul, a striking performance gap was observed between the holding and banking indices, which are the locomotive sectors. While the holding index attracted attention with a rise of 45.4%, the banking index was limited to only a 13.6% increase. This situation is seen as an indication of investors shifting towards different sectors.

Developments in Other Sectors

Other sectors that closed the year with positive performances included the electricity index with a gain of 29.1% and the textile leather index with an increase of 28.2%. The tourism index rose by 26.1%, and the forest paper printing index recorded a gain of 24.4%. However, sectors such as chemicals, oil, and plastics were limited to only 10.9%, the metal primary industry increased by 8.4%, and food and beverage recorded a gain of 8.4%. The communication, IT, and trade indices closed the year with increases of 5.8%, 3.5%, and 2.7%, respectively, while the transportation index showed a nearly flat trend with a rise of 1.6%.

Declining Values in Sports Stocks

The sector that incurred the most losses in 2025 was the sports index, which saw a decrease of 35.1%. This negative picture indicates a decline in confidence in sports stocks, while other losses included a drop of 7.9% in the stone and soil index and a decrease of 4.4% in the metal goods machinery indices.
