Ethereum developers have agreed on a name and estimated timing for the network's second major update this month. Hegota has been identified as the next phase in the Ethereum blockchain's development roadmap. This update, planned for 2026, will follow a previous update called Glamsterdam, which is expected to be released in the first half of 2026.

This decision reflects a new approach in the Ethereum development process. Core contributors aim to implement network changes more frequently. Thus, instead of compressing a large number of updates into a single version released annually, they will provide more updates to users at shorter intervals.
