President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements to a group of journalists upon his return from Azerbaijan. He expressed hope for positive outcomes from the discussions with the United States regarding the Halkbank case.
While responding to a question about Halkbank, Erdoğan stated, "Mr. Trump, in our contacts in the U.S. and during our recent phone conversation, said, 'The problem with Halk Bank is over for us.' This is a strong declaration of political will, and it is valuable for us." However, he emphasized that certain steps need to be taken to complete the process.
Erdoğan also shared his expectations regarding the F-35 program and CAATSA sanctions, stating, "Turkey is a country that is a partner in the F-35 project and has fulfilled its obligations. The reasons for our removal from this program have no legitimacy." He added that he believes the discussions between the two leaders will initiate a new era in Turkey-U.S. relations.
