The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has made significant changes to the LPG Market License Regulation, published in the Official Gazette. These updates to the original regulation dated September 16, 2005 will impact the functioning and competitive conditions of the sector.
With the changes made in the regulation, LPG distribution license holders can now purchase LPG wholesale, but they will not be allowed to sell the LPG they have purchased to another distributor. This provision aims to regulate competition among license holders.
Within the scope of the new regulations, storage tariffs and service fees that are subject to approval must be determined without discrimination among equal parties. This situation aims to increase transparency in the sector.
Storage facility owners will be obliged to meet the demands for empty capacity. Additionally, storage tariffs will be prepared within the framework of relevant legislation and submitted to EPDK, and only approved tariffs will be applied.
The 1st article of the regulation will come into effect on January 1, 2026, while other articles will be valid from the date of publication. The EPDK President will be responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of this regulation.
