Frankfurt-based Sentix announced the Investor Confidence Index data for the Euro Area for October. According to the data, the overall index increased from minus 9.2 in September to minus 5.4, with an increase of 3.8 points. Experts were expecting the index to rise to minus 8.5 in October.
The Expectations Index, which measures investors' forecasts for the next 6 months, rose from 0.8 to 5.8. The Current Situation Index also improved from minus 18.8 to minus 16.
In a statement, Sentix noted that investor confidence in the Euro Area is positively influenced by the international situation. Notably, Asia (excluding Japan) gained significant momentum, with the overall index rising to 18.1 points, reaching its highest level since February 2022. The improvement in economic confidence regarding the USA stands out as a noteworthy development.
For Germany, the largest economy in the Euro Area, Sentix reported that the Investor Confidence Index increased by 6.3 points to minus 17.9 in October. The Current Situation Index in Germany also rose from minus 39 to minus 36.5. However, it was emphasized that investors' pessimistic stance still continues.
The survey was conducted with the participation of 1138 investors between October 2-4.
