Hotel Occupancy Rates Continue to Decline

In October 2023, hotel occupancy rates in Turkey have fallen to their lowest level post-pandemic. Despite an increase in the number of overnight stays in hospitality and simple accommodation facilities, the occupancy rate has continued to decrease this month.

What Do the Ministry's Data Say?

According to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the hotel occupancy rate was %61.05 in October last year, while this year it has dropped to %56.58. This marks the lowest occupancy rate observed since the pandemic.

Domestic and Foreign Visitors

Foreign visitors account for %40.83 of hotel occupancy rates, while %20.22 is made up of domestic visitors. This indicates that the interest of guests from abroad has a significant share in hotels.

Increase in Number of Overnight Stays

In September 2023, the number of overnight stays in hotels was recorded as 32 million 754 thousand 196. In the same month last year, this figure was 30 million 381 thousand 718, indicating an increase. Of the overnight stays, 21 million 906 thousand 705 were by foreign visitors and 10 million 847 thousand 491 were by domestic visitors.
