


The Ministry of Trade has conducted comprehensive assessments regarding products sold on e-commerce platforms that have been reported. It has been announced that businesses found to have applied excessive price increases may face administrative fines of up to 1 million 806 thousand 177 lira for each violation.
In a statement made by the Ministry, it was noted that the simplified customs system, known as e-import, will come into effect on February 1, and some complaints have reached the Ministry. Accordingly, immediate investigations have begun regarding high price increases on e-commerce marketplaces.
The statement indicated that price increases would be evaluated under the Law on Regulation of Retail Trade and the Law on Regulation of Electronic Commerce. In this context, continuous requests for information and documentation are being made from relevant e-commerce platforms.
Instructions have been given to immediately restrict access to e-commerce marketplaces for products identified with price increases contrary to the relevant laws. Additionally, as a result of investigations conducted by the Unjust Price Evaluation Board, businesses determined to have made excessive price increases will be fined 1 million 806 thousand 177 lira.
The Ministry emphasized its determination to protect consumer health and safety, ensure fair trade, and create a transparent market order. It was also stated that inspections will continue against allegations of unjust profits that exploit societal sensitivities.
