The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the intervention against the Freedom Flotilla in international waters, stating that it is an act of piracy carried out by the genocidal Netanyahu government. It was noted that the Israeli navy cut off communication with several ships, including the Ship of Conscience, in its intervention against the vessels of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
It has been reported that there were hundreds of activists on the ships intercepted by the Israeli forces, including Turkish citizens. In the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was emphasized that such attacks constitute a serious violation of international law.
The statement included the following expressions: "The intervention in international waters against the Freedom Flotilla, which seeks to break the inhumane blockade imposed on Gaza, is a piracy act carried out by the genocidal Netanyahu government. This attack on civilian activists, including Turkish citizens and members of parliament, has severely violated international law. Israel is escalating tensions in the region and damaging efforts for lasting peace by violently targeting any efforts that defend humanitarian values and employ peaceful means."
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that all necessary initiatives have been launched to ensure the immediate release of Turkish citizens detained by Israeli forces and their return to the country. It was stated that the situation of other activists would be closely monitored in coordination with the relevant countries. Turkey affirmed its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and continuing the fight to end the genocide in Gaza.
