The founder of the open-source AI assistant ClawdBot, Peter Steinberger, emphasized that cryptocurrency projects using his name are scams, warning investors to be cautious. Responding to false claims made against him in recent days, Steinberger stated clearly in a post on social media platform X that he has never issued any cryptocurrency or tokens.
Steinberger noted that all initiatives presenting him as the owner or partner of a project are fraudulent, and he requested that individuals within the cryptocurrency world cease their harassment against him. He attributed the misuse of his name to an operational error he experienced during brand registration processes and a name change. He explained that, due to this mistake, his GitHub and X accounts were compromised by scammers, and this situation has been exploited by malicious individuals.
The well-known developer is currently waiting for official assistance from GitHub authorities to recover his stolen accounts and emphasized that he will not accept any token-based payments or fees during this process. This technical glitch highlights once again how the names of popular open-source projects and well-known developers can be misused in meme coins or fake projects. Malicious individuals have been attempting to mislead investors by using Steinberger's former usernames, endangering both his reputation and user security.
The recent increase in account takeovers and impersonation incidents within the cryptocurrency ecosystem has raised serious concern within the community. Steinberger stated that the fake accounts and projects opened in his name have no legal basis, urging the community to remain vigilant. Especially for newly launched token projects that are based on a name, examining the project's technical documents and official announcements stands out as the most fundamental step to protect against fraud.
Steinberger emphasized that he will follow up on legal processes and that users should avoid falling for such traps.
