The Head of Digital Assets at Citibank Institute, Ronit Ghose, made striking assessments about the future of finance in an interview with Bloomberg HT during the Davos 2026 event. Ghose emphasized that the topic of artificial intelligence and digital assets will determine the direction of global banking.
Ghose stated that artificial intelligence applications have revolutionized the banking sector, fundamentally transforming operational processes and customer relations. He said that end users will have the opportunity to access more personalized financial products.
Ghose drew attention to the effects of increasing geopolitical risks on the banking sector, explaining that established institutions like Citi have an advantage in managing complexity by combining local knowledge with a global scale. Operating like a local player in countries like Turkey and the United Arab Emirates is an important part of these strategies.
He also noted that digital assets, especially stablecoins, have become the agenda of the U.S. financial sector in the last 12 months. He emphasized his belief that the migration of financial assets onto the blockchain will continue to grow the digital asset ecosystem in the upcoming period.
Ronit Ghose predicted that the future of the finance sector will be shaped by a multi-channel, digital, and AI-supported integration. He mentioned that central bank digital currencies and various economies' own solutions will gain importance.
