China Condemns US Arms Sales to Taiwan

China has stated that the approval of a 11 billion dollar arms sale to Taiwan by the United States (US) has increased the risk of potential conflict between the two superpowers.

Statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Guo Jiakun expressed at a press conference held in Beijing that this move by the US puts the people of Taiwan in danger and has the potential to create tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Guo emphasized that this situation will inevitably increase the risk of conflict between China and the US.

Emphasis on National Sovereignty

Guo stated that China will take measures to protect its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying, "Any aggressive actions against Taiwan will have serious consequences." He also added that Beijing has issued a diplomatic warning to Washington.

US Military Support Package

The US Department of State has approved the largest military arms sale package in history; this package includes missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and artillery systems. This move reflects Donald Trump's administration's determination to defend Taiwan despite its trade relations with China.

Congress Approval and Expectations

The mentioned proposal is subject to Congressional approval, like all US foreign military sales. This sale package is expected to pass through the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, similar to previous Taiwan packages.
