Cem Erdem has been appointed as the General Director of Turkish Petroleum Corporation.

New Era at Türkiye Petrolleri A.O.

Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) has made a significant appointment to strengthen its management team. In accordance with Article 6 of the Decree Law No. 233 and Articles 2 and 3 of the Presidential Decree No. 3, Cem Erdem has been appointed as the General Manager and Chairman of the Board.

After the resignation of the current General Manager Ahmet Türkoğlu, the appointment process for the vacant position was rapidly completed. The new General Manager Cem Erdem aims to play a decisive role in TPAO’s future and contribute significantly to achieving the company’s strategic goals.

Cem Erdem's Career Journey

Originally from Trabzon, Cem Erdem was born in 1971 in Ankara. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Maritime Studies in 1992 with a degree in Marine Engine Operation Engineering. Continuing his career in the energy and petroleum sector with various important roles, Erdem most recently served as the General Manager and Board Member of TP-OTC.

Expectations in the New Role

Assuming the position of General Manager of TPAO as of January 2024, Cem Erdem is expected to take significant steps in developing the company’s energy policies, achieving sustainability goals, and increasing domestic energy production. With the necessary experience and vision, Erdem will take on critical leadership in reducing Turkey’s energy dependence.

Under Cem Erdem’s leadership, it is aimed for TPAO to strengthen its position in the sector through innovative projects and strategies to adapt to global energy dynamics.
