Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD has tripled its sales in the European Union. Last month, BYD's sales surpassed those of Tesla for the second month in a row, up by 201.3% compared to August 24.
Also, according to data released by ACEA, Tesla's sales fell by 36.6% and its market share fell from 2 percent to 1.2 percent.
During this period, Volkswagen and Renault posted year-on-year gains of 4.8% and 7.8% respectively, while Stellantis saw sales increase by 2.2%. This was the first growth since February 2024.
On the other hand, SAIC Motor, owner of the Chinese MG brand, posted a 59.4% sales increase in August. Its year-to-date market share has reached 1.9%, making it the tenth best-selling brand in the EU this year.
