Bhutan Government Transfers Bitcoin Worth $50 Million

The Kingdom of Bhutan has been making a prominent presence in the cryptocurrency space lately. According to the latest data reported by on-chain analytics platform Lookonchain, the government has again captured the attention of investors by transferring 419.5 Bitcoin (BTC). In total, the transfer represents a transaction worth $47.23 million.

After the transfer, the Bhutanese government reportedly still holds 9,232 Bitcoin (approximately $1.04 billion). This shows that the country has long taken an active role in the crypto market. Bhutan, through its state-backed investment fund Druk Holding & Investments, is taking a strategic approach to Bitcoin mining and digital asset investments. Bhutan has made large transfers before. For example, on September 18, Lookonchain data revealed another transfer of 913 Bitcoin (approximately $107 million). With this transfer, Bhutan's total Bitcoin holdings at the time were recorded at 9,652 Bitcoin (approximately $1.13 billion). The latest transfers show continued activity in Bhutan's Bitcoin portfolio, prompting questions in the crypto community such as "Is Bhutan taking a new strategic step?"
