The World Investor Week (WIW), organized for the ninth time this year by the Turkey Capital Markets Association (TSPB), officially began with the Gong Ceremony held at Borsa İstanbul. Supported by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the event is celebrated throughout October in more than 100 countries, including Turkey. In Turkey, the events will be held on October 6-7, 2025, with panels designed according to the ‘5W1H’ approach.
The Gong Ceremony held at Borsa İstanbul was hosted by the Chairman of the Capital Markets Board (SPK) İbrahim Ömer Gönül, General Manager of Borsa İstanbul A.Ş. Ergun Korkmaz, and the Chairman of TSPB Pamir Karagöz. Many representatives from various institutions and organizations active in the capital markets participated in the event.
Throughout World Investor Week, many topics will be discussed ranging from financial literacy to entrepreneurship, sustainable financing instruments, and investment fraud with artificial intelligence. The prominent topics in the panels include:
SPK Chairman İbrahim Ömer Gönül emphasized that the increase in the number of investors is gratifying, stating, “The number of our citizens evaluating their savings in the capital markets is approximately 11 million. The number of equity investors is around 6.4 million.” He indicated that they are making intensive efforts regarding the protection of investors and the increase of financial literacy.
Speaking about Financial Literacy Day on May 22, Gönül said they continue to raise awareness by preparing special content for various groups. He highlighted the increased participation of women and youth in the markets, stating, “Women make up 35% of local individual equity investors.”
Online panels to be held throughout World Investor Week can be watched for free. Participants will earn points during the event and can win prizes offered by sponsors. Additionally, special seminars will be organized for universities within October.
