Stock Exchange will start 3 days with caution in Istanbul

Investing.com - Borsa Istanbul has introduced new restrictions for three stocks under the Volatility Based Measure System (VBTS). While the gross settlement measure was applied to the USAN shares, the ban on short selling and credit trading was activated in IHYAY and MERCN shares. These measures will be effective from August 26, 2025 and will last until the end of the session on September 25, 2025.

Application of gross swap on CUSAN shares under VBTS

According to Borsa İstanbul's Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), in line with the decision of the Capital Market Board (SPK), a new trading restriction has been imposed on CUSAN shares under the Volatility Based Measure System (VBTS). In this context, the gross settlement method of CUSAN shares will be applied from August 26, 2025 (beginning of the session) to transactions on September 25, 2025 (end of session).

With the gross settlement decision taken, investors will not be able to sell their positions in CUSAN shares on the same day, and purchases based on the gross settlement application will be carried out on the day of the swap. Measures, such as the ban on credit transactions, which are still in force and have already been taken, will also continue during this period.

Prohibition of short selling and credit transactions of IHYAY and MERCN shares

Another decision taken under the VBTS concerns IHYAY and MERCN shares. Starting on August 26, 2025, the short selling and credit trading of both shares is prohibited. This measure will be valid until the end of the session on September 25, 2025.

With this measure taken, investors will not be able to trade using short sales and loans in IHYAY and MERCN shares between the specified dates. These regulations have been implemented in order to reduce the price volatility seen in these shares and to protect investors.
