Bitfarms has announced plans to transform its 18 MW capacity facility in Washington state, USA, into an artificial intelligence infrastructure, marking a significant step in the field of Bitcoin mining. This transformation will be implemented to support high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence applications. Bitfarms' determination for this new project aims to enhance its competitive edge in the industry.
According to the company's statement, the transformation process at the Washington facility will be supported by an advanced liquid cooling system, providing up to 190 kW of energy capacity per rack. This is the first fully-fledged transformation project of Bitfarms in this field.
As part of the transformation, Bitfarms has signed a strategic agreement worth $128 million with a major US-based data center infrastructure provider. Through this agreement, the partner will supply all critical IT equipment and construction materials for the facility. Thus, the goal is to have a total infrastructure capacity of 18 MW for the facility.
With the transformation project, Bitfarms aims to become a leader in energy efficiency. The company targets a Power Usage Effectiveness (PuE) value between 1.2 and 1.3. This value also demonstrates the facility's commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
The converted facility is planned to be completed by December 2026. Bitfarms' approach to this project highlights its determination to adopt future technologies in artificial intelligence and energy efficiency.
