In recent days, claims have surfaced regarding the sale of Bitcoins in the context of the Samourai Wallet case in the United States. However, Patrick Witt, the Executive Director of the White House Digital Assets Advisory Council, clearly denied these allegations in a statement.

Patrick Witt stated that the digital assets belonging to the developers of Samourai Wallet had not been liquidated and would not be. According to Witt's statements, the confiscated Bitcoins will continue to be held on the U.S. government's balance sheet and will be part of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

The White House's statements followed news shared by Bitcoin Magazine that claimed the U.S. Marshals Service had sold approximately 6 million dollars worth of Bitcoins. This report alleged that the assets were sent to a Coinbase Prime address. However, Witt expressed that these claims do not reflect the truth and emphasized that they are acting in accordance with an executive order signed by former President Donald Trump in March.

According to the aforementioned executive order, Bitcoins confiscated in criminal or legal proceedings cannot be sold and must be held as reserve assets. In this context, the importance of the Samourai Wallet case is connected to its crypto mixing feature, which enhances privacy in Bitcoin transactions. U.S. prosecutors alleged that this structure was used to erase the trace of millions of dollars. Keonne Rodriguez was sentenced to five years, while William Lonergan Hill was sentenced to four years in prison.

Witt's latest statement clearly shows that the U.S. has not backtracked on its approach to holding Bitcoin as a strategic reserve asset. This situation carries an important message for investors: the U.S. government's stance may contribute to reducing uncertainties surrounding Bitcoin in the future.
