Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek commented on the inflation data for the end of 2025 released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). Şimşek stated that total inflation decreased by 13.5 points compared to the previous year, falling to 30.9 percent, and that the disinflation process has spread widely.
Stating that annual inflation was 17.7 percent for basic goods and 28.3 percent for food prices, Şimşek highlighted the impacts of frost and drought on agricultural production. He also emphasized that with a decline in major service groups such as rent and education, the annual inflation rate for services decreased by 21.7 points to 44 percent.
Minister Şimşek also shared his expectations for 2026. He expressed that supportive global financial conditions, moderate commodity prices, and tight monetary policies would support price increases managed in line with inflation targets. As a result, he believes that the disinflation process will continue.
Şimşek stated that their ultimate goal is to continue their practices resolutely until price stability is achieved, assuring that citizens are protected against economic fluctuations.
