Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that an important regulation regarding excessive increases in site service charges has been brought to the parliamentary agenda.
Kurum stated that he expects the regulation to be enacted in a short time with the votes of the members of parliament. He emphasized that service charge increases will no longer be determined arbitrarily and highlighted that these increases will not exceed the inflation rate.
Minister Kurum emphasized that currently, site managements are not subject to an adequate oversight mechanism. He announced that they will address the situation in response to calls from citizens and that management companies of the sites will be certified by the Ministry.
Kurum added that inspections will be conducted at least once a year and that a rapid monitoring mechanism will be initiated in response to complaints from site residents. These steps are expected to increase public trust and be effective in resolving the service charge issue.
