New Legal Regulations on Betting are on the Agenda

Recently, the increasing use of betting among underage individuals has raised concerns in the public. To address this issue, a comprehensive bill is being prepared as a result of ongoing technical work between the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Family and Social Services.

Details of the Legal Regulation

The proposed bill includes a ban on betting advertisements. This regulation will also include measures to prevent young people aged 15-18 from accessing betting. In line with the bans on alcohol and tobacco advertisements in the country, it is expected that betting advertisements will also be banned in a similar manner. This step aims to create a protection mechanism against betting addiction among young people and to contribute to building a healthy society.

To Be Presented Alongside Maternity Leave Regulation

The legal regulation banning betting advertisements will be presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) alongside a regulation that will extend maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. This regulation is expected to provide significant momentum for family policies and social services.
