Recently, the increasing use of betting among minors has raised concerns in the public. To address this issue, a comprehensive legal proposal is being prepared as a result of ongoing technical work between the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Family and Social Services.
The proposed legal bill includes a ban on betting advertisements. This regulation will also include several measures aimed at preventing access to betting for young people aged 15-18. Similar to the bans on alcohol and cigarette advertising in the country, it is expected that betting advertisements will also be banned in the same way. This step aims to create a protection mechanism against betting addiction for young people and contribute to the establishment of a healthy society.
The legal regulation banning betting advertisements will be presented to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) along with a regulation that extends maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks. This regulation is expected to provide significant momentum in terms of family policies and social services.
The ban on betting advertisements can also minimize the negative effects exposure on young people and minors. Thus, it is aimed to maintain the social structure in a healthy manner and to guide young people correctly. It is of great importance to keep children away from the betting world with the implementation of legal regulations.
