The Minimum Wage Determination Commission is entering a new phase.

The First Step Has Been Taken for Minimum Wage Negotiations

The Ministry of Labor and Social Security has convened the Tripartite Advisory Board again on October 9 to address the issue of minimum wage. Representatives from labor, employers, and the government participated in this critical meeting. The focus of the discussions was on the structure and functioning of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission before the minimum wage negotiations starting in December.

Commission Structure and Function Changes

In the meeting, it was decided that the commission that will determine the minimum wage will consist of 15 members, aiming for a structure where labor and employer representatives will make up a decisive majority. HAK-İŞ General President Mahmut Arslan stated, referring to <%b>Civil_Politics%>, "We continue our joint negotiations with TÜRK-İŞ; however, we have confirmed that they will not participate, and we will not participate either."

Strong Statements from TÜRK-İŞ

TÜRK-İŞ General President Ergün Atalay criticized the process of determining the minimum wage for December 25, 2024, saying, "Unfortunately, we have stood in an unjust commission for 50 years. As long as a fair arrangement is not made from now on, we, as TÜRK-İŞ, will not participate in the Minimum Wage Determination Commission," delivering a strong message.

Current Minimum Wage and Employer Costs

The currently applicable minimum wage is set at a gross 26,005.50 TL, while the net amount received by the worker is 22,104.67 TL. For employers, this amount corresponds to a total of 30,621.48 TL; this results from the combination of gross minimum wage, social security premiums, and employer unemployment insurance fund.

Upcoming Dates for the Commission

In accordance with relevant legal regulations, the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will consist of five representatives each from labor, employers, and the government, totaling 15 members. The commission will continue its necessary work for determining the new minimum wage during the planned dates in December.
