The third meeting of the Minimum Wage Determination Commission will be held today at 18:00, hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
The commission held its first meeting on December 12, Friday. This meeting was chaired by Director General of Labor Oğuz Tuncay and lasted 1.5 hours.
It was noted that the government representatives and the representatives of employers from the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK) were present at the meeting, while the members representing the workers from TÜRK-İŞ were absent. This situation indicates a disagreement among the parties.
Ramazan Ağar, Deputy Chairman of Türk-İş, held a series of preliminary talks with Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan before the meeting. It remains to be seen how these discussions will impact the meeting.
