Apple is preparing to sign an agreement with Google for an annual payment of 1 billion dollars in order to further develop its voice smart assistant Siri and enhance the user experience. This decision is a plan to utilize Google's strong artificial intelligence infrastructure as a temporary solution until Apple’s own AI technologies are sufficiently developed.
As part of the agreement, Apple will gain access to Google's Gemini model, which has 1.2 trillion parameters. This model is expected to offer far more advanced capabilities than Apple’s current 150 billion parameter system, aiming to enhance Siri's functionality.
Apple will use Google's AI model as a temporary solution until its own systems are sufficiently strengthened. During this period, the Gemini model will be involved in information synthesis and decision-making phases, but some core Siri features will continue to operate with Apple’s own advanced models.
Apple will prioritize user privacy by running the Gemini model on its own servers. This way, user data will be completely isolated and secured from the Google infrastructure.
The revamped Siri is expected to be released next spring. Additionally, Apple evaluated AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic earlier this year; however, after testing, it decided to proceed with Google.
