NEW YORK, November 17, 2025 – Amogy, a company that offers mature, scalable, and highly efficient ammonia-based energy solutions, has announced a strategic investment of $15 million made by GS Engineering and Construction (GS E&C). A consortium that includes venture investors such as XPLOR and GS Futures also participated in this financing led by the South Korean engineering, procurement, and construction company GS E&C.
With this investment, Amogy has secured over $100 million in funding within the past year. The company has stated that the total amount raised since its establishment is $315 million and it continues to pursue its goal of implementing ammonia-based energy production projects in key markets.
This investment between Amogy and GS E&C strengthens their existing partnership on carbon-neutral distributed energy systems. The two companies are collaborating on a commercial pilot project for an ammonia-based energy production system, planned to be commissioned in 2026 in Pohang, South Korea. The total capacity is targeted to increase up to 40 MW in the commercial phase of the project.
Seonghoon Woo, Co-Founder and CEO of Amogy, said, “Amogy has had the opportunity to partner with investors who are leaders in critical markets and sectors for our mission. And GS E&C is exactly such a partner.”
GS E&C brings significant contributions to Amogy with its deep expertise in engineering, procurement, and construction, as well as strong capabilities in data centers and smart city development. With robust business development capacity globally, GS E&C is uniquely positioned to accelerate the commercialization and large-scale deployment of ammonia-based energy solutions.
Through their collaboration in the commercial pilot project in Pohang, Amogy and GS E&C plan to expand into overseas markets to support the transition to carbon-neutral distributed energy by combining innovation and excellent implementation capabilities.
Amogy continues to gain momentum with its ammonia-based solutions that enable clean energy production. In addition to the Pohang pilot, the company announced a partnership with Singapore's leading public sector R&D institution A*STAR to explore ammonia-based energy development and distribution. This collaboration will focus on decarbonizing Singapore's data center industry. Amogy announced its expansion to support such initiatives with strategic partners in South Korea at the beginning of 2025.
Jin-Hong Huh, Head of New Business Development at GS E&C, stated, “This investment represents a strategic collaboration to build a carbon-neutral ammonia energy ecosystem together with Amogy, beyond merely a financial participation.” GS E&C aims to achieve carbon neutrality both in Korea and abroad through hydrogen and ammonia-based energy transition projects, striving to realize our ESG vision of creating a sustainable society through carbon-free energy technologies.
