AMSTERDAM - Amazon plans to invest 1.4 billion euros (approximately 1.63 billion dollars) in the Netherlands over the next three years. This information was shared by Eva Faic, the Head of Belgium and the Netherlands for Amazon.
Part of the investment will be aimed at developing artificial intelligence (AI) for entrepreneurs selling their products on the Amazon platform. Faic stated that this strategy will make the sales processes more efficient.
Amazon, which currently has approximately 1,000 employees in the Netherlands, is lagging behind Bol.com, the market leader in online sales. Bol.com is a subsidiary of the retail company Ahold Delhaize.
This investment draws attention as part of Amazon's growth efforts in Europe, alongside the previously announced 1.16 billion dollars investment for its operations in Belgium.
