Amazon has decided to reduce a total of 14,000 corporate job positions in order to maintain its leadership in the online retail sector. This decision comes alongside increasing expenses in the artificial intelligence field.
Amazon Senior Vice President of Human Experience and Technology Beth Galetti stated in a message to employees, "The reductions we shared today are part of our ongoing efforts to reduce bureaucracy, eliminate layers, and reallocate resources. Our goal is to invest in our biggest bets and in the current and future needs of our customers."
Additionally, a note written by CEO Andy Jassy regarding the reduction was also shared with employees last year. Teams and individuals affected by the cuts will be informed on Tuesday.
