The Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis) has announced the industrial production data for September 2023. According to the data set, industrial production in Germany showed an increase of only 1.3 percent compared to the previous month. This result disappointed economists when compared to their forecasts; Bloomberg survey participants expected an increase of around 3 percent on a monthly basis.

Yearly Production Change

When examining the industrial production on an annual basis, a more negative picture emerges. While expectations suggested that industrial production would increase by 0.1 percent on an annual basis, the data indicates a decrease of 1 percent.
