The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has added foreign-manufactured unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and their critical components to the list of banned products for sale and importation nationwide. The FCC emphasized that these products pose a serious threat to U.S. national security.
It was noted that the ban was implemented in line with the need to protect U.S. airspace as the country prepares to host major international events such as the FIFA World Cup planned for 2026 and the Olympics in 2028. Additionally, threats posed by cartels, terrorist groups, and foreign governments were also influential in this decision.
It was stated that this decision would not apply to products already sold in the U.S. It was mentioned that the House Committee on the Chinese Communist Party expressed support for this ban.
