The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has added foreign-manufactured unmanned aerial vehicles (UAS) and their critical components to the list of banned products for sale and importation nationwide. In a statement made by the FCC, it was emphasized that these products pose a serious threat to national security in the US.
It was noted that this ban was enacted in line with the need to protect US airspace, especially in light of major international events such as the FIFA World Cup planned for 2026 and the Olympics in 2028. Additionally, threats posed by cartels, terrorist groups, and foreign governments were also influential in this decision.
It was stated that this decision would not apply to products that had already been sold in the US. In a statement made by the China Communist Party Special Committee in the US House of Representatives, support for this ban was expressed.
