The minimum wage that will be applicable in 2026 was announced to the public by the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan. The gross minimum wage has been set at 33,030 Turkish Lira, while the net minimum wage that will enter workers' pockets is determined to be 28,075 Lira and 50 kuruş. This new wage will have a significant impact on the labor market in Turkey.
The gross minimum wage set for 2026 will see 28,075 Lira and 50 kuruş paid out as net wages to workers, while the remaining 4,624 Lira and 20 kuruş will be deducted as SGK premiums and 330 Lira and 30 kuruş will be deducted as unemployment insurance premiums. After these deductions, the net minimum wage received by workers will be 28,075 Lira and 50 kuruş.
In addition to the gross minimum wage, the total cost to the employer must also be considered. When the employer's share includes 7,184 Lira and 3 kuruş SGK premium and 660 Lira and 60 kuruş employer unemployment insurance premium, the monthly cost of a minimum wage worker to the employer reaches 40,874 Lira and 63 kuruş. These significant cost components will play a critical role in financial planning for employers.
With the new minimum wage, the support provided by the government to employers has also been increased. The minimum wage support has been raised from 1,000 Lira to 1,270 Lira. This is highlighted as an important regulation aimed at alleviating the financial burdens on employers.
Starting from January 1, 2026, with the implementation of the new minimum wage, updates will also be made in many areas such as unemployment benefits, General Health Insurance (GSS) premiums, severance pay ceiling, and apprentice wages. These changes will have a broad impact on the labor market and will affect the socio-economic status of workers.
