Important developments are taking place for parents and students regarding the fee increases for private schools for the 2026-2027 academic year. According to statements made by the Turkish Private Schools Association (TÖZOK), the upper limit for fee increases has been clarified based on the inflation rates of 2025.
The maximum increase rate applicable to private school fees in intermediate classes for the year 2026 has been determined as 30.74 percent. This rate is based on the annual average of the Domestic Producer Price Index (ÜFE) and the Consumer Price Index (TÜFE) in accordance with the regulations made by the Ministry of National Education (MEB).
The upper limit increase rate for students enrolled in private schools for the 2026-2027 academic year in kindergarten, first grade, fifth grade of middle school, and ninth grade of high school has been set at 43.92 percent. This new system cannot exceed one and a half times the inflation rate.
The increase rate for service items aside from meal, breakfast, and transportation fees in private schools has been calculated as 29.28 percent. This situation is considered an important issue affecting the budgets of parents.
However, the Turkish Private Schools Association (TÖZOK) has filed a lawsuit against the MEB regarding the regulations for the 2026-2027 academic year at the Council of State. The association argued that the fee increases have been determined unjustly and that basing them solely on one month’s data creates inequities.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced an increase in Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) scholarships and loans starting from the new year. He announced that the support has been raised to 4,000 TL for undergraduate students, 8,000 TL for master's students, and 12,000 TL for doctoral students. This development provides significant support for many students and families.
