


According to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the number of vehicles registered for traffic in Turkey in 2025 decreased by 8.9% compared to the previous year, reaching 2 million 368 thousand 538 units. During the same period, the number of vehicles deregistered from traffic increased by 52.5%, reaching 55 thousand 907 units. Thus, a total increase of 2 million 312 thousand 631 vehicles was observed in the total number of vehicles in traffic during the January-December period.
The total number of vehicles registered for traffic in December was 248 thousand 205. Of this figure, 59.3% were cars, 23.6% were motorcycles, 12.9% were light trucks, 1.9% were tractors, 1.2% were trucks, 0.6% were minibuses, 0.3% were buses, and 0.2% were special-purpose vehicles.
The increase in the number of vehicles registered for traffic in December was noteworthy, with increases of 53.3% for cars, 37.5% for light trucks, 26.8% for tractors, and 19.2% for minibuses. Special-purpose vehicles increased by 10.3%, motorcycles by 6.8%, buses by 3.3%, and trucks by 2.9%.
In December, compared to the same month last year, the number of vehicles registered for traffic increased by 84.1% for special-purpose vehicles, 49.6% for light trucks, and 35.3% for cars, while there were decreases of 38.1% for motorcycles, 33.2% for tractors, 29.0% for minibuses, 26.0% for trucks, and 2.3% for buses.
As of the end of December, the total number of registered vehicles in traffic reached 33 million 612 thousand 650. In this distribution, cars accounted for 51.7%, motorcycles 21.2%, light trucks 14.6%, tractors 6.9%, trucks 3.1%, minibuses 1.6%, buses 0.6%, and special-purpose vehicles 0.3%.
The total number of vehicles transferred in December reached 1 million 158 thousand 490, of which the share of cars was 68.9%, light trucks 15.2%, motorcycles 7.7%, and tractors 3.7%.
Among the cars registered for traffic in December, 46.4% were gasoline, 27.3% were hybrid, 16.7% were electric, and 8.5% were diesel. Additionally, 40.6% of the cars registered during the January-December period were gray.
As of the end of 2025, the average age of vehicles registered in traffic was calculated to be 14.2 years. This value shows the same average age for cars, while the age of trucks was determined to be 18.4 years.
