The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that this year's mandatory winter tire application will end on April 15. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the winter tire application will come into effect starting tomorrow, emphasizing that this application will be mandatory for all commercial vehicles transporting passengers and cargo on intercity roads.
The Minister reminded in a written statement that the "Regulation on the Mandatory Use of Winter Tires and Amendments to the Regulation" was published in the Official Gazette on October 4. He expressed that these changes were made to enhance traffic safety during the winter months, highlighting that winter conditions can negatively affect vehicle driving performance.
Stating that the use of winter tires is of vital importance due to the winter conditions experienced every year, especially during periods of heavy snowfall and icing, Uraloğlu explained that this provides significant advantages for drivers. He emphasized the necessity for drivers to comply with this obligation to ensure a safe journey.
The application applies not only to commercial vehicles but also to other large vehicles such as trucks and buses. Therefore, it has become an important requirement for businesses and vehicle owners to make the necessary preparations and install winter tires. Otherwise, the risk of encountering negative situations such as traffic accidents and material damage may increase.
The obligation to install winter tires is considered not only the responsibility of drivers but also a step towards ensuring road safety. Minister Uraloğlu once again urged all drivers to be sensitive to this issue and take the necessary precautions.
