As most of the third quarter earnings season has passed, focus has turned to the reports of The Walt Disney Company (DIS) and Alibaba (BABA). So far, 91% of S&P 500 companies have reported their results, and analysts expect a 13.1% increase in earnings per share for the third quarter. If this figure holds, it would indicate double-digit earnings growth for the fourth consecutive quarter.

Initially, expectations were low; analysts had anticipated a 7.9% increase in earnings per share as of September 30. Last week, reports came from players in the technology and artificial intelligence sectors, as well as companies such as Uber (UBER), Spotify (SPOT), Snap (SNAP), and Airbnb (ABNB).

This week, quarterly results are expected from firms like The Walt Disney Company, Applied Materials (AMAT), Cisco Systems (CSCO), and Occidental Petroleum (OXY).

Among the notable reports, _COREWeave_ (CRWV) shared some important data that were supposed to come after four quarters. The company posted earnings above expectations, but its stock price fell due to weak demand and market pressures.

Last week, Venture Global (VG) achieved significant increases in earnings and revenue throughout the quarter, while Tyson Foods (TSN) made optimistic forecasts for 2026. On the other hand, Block (XYZ) and Sweetgreen (SG) reported weaker results, causing their stock prices to decline.

As a result, investors are observing that companies reported largely positive earnings surprises throughout the third quarter. According to FactSet data, 82% of S&P 500 companies experienced positive earnings surprises, while 77% reported positive revenue surprises. Earnings growth rates for the third quarter are expected to rise to 13.1% from the second quarter.
