Turkey's crude steel production reached a total of 28.1 million tons in the January-September period of 2023, showing an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period last year. The data provided by significant players in the sector is sourced from the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD).

The production in September rose to 3.2 million tons, marking an increase of 7.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. This increase reflects Turkey's robust performance in the steel sector and its competitive position in the international market.

Steel production is a critical indicator that directly affects many important sectors such as construction and automotive. In recent years, Turkey has made significant progress in steel production, becoming a key player in the global steel market. Various incentives and investments provided by the government are enhancing the competitiveness of local producers.

However, the increasing production levels in Turkey align with the goal of reducing dependence on imports. Steel producers are actively engaging in lobbying activities to minimize foreign dependency and have raised import quota demands. This situation is crucial for strengthening domestic production and establishing a sustainable steel sector.

The data obtained so far suggests an optimistic outlook for the continued growth of the steel sector in the upcoming period. Ensuring sectoral growth is related not only to production figures but also to investor confidence and market stability. Experts are closely monitoring the developments in Turkey's steel market.
